User Guides - RGB Critter 2.0

• Mode 1's playlist contains 39 solid color options. To enter this playlist, find Mode 1 and enter the playlist by holding the Arrow button and release once the Critter pulses white (⚪⚪).
• Tip: You can always return to Mode 1 by using the Soft Reset function. To do a Soft Reset, turn off your Critter and hold the Power button until it turns on in ⚪ (Mode 1).
  

• Modes 2-8 have playlists that store 8 presets. All of the presets within a playlist have the same pattern.
• For example, Mode 2 is the Fade Mode and its playlist has 8 Fade Mode options.

• The Rainbow Road's Playlist contains 30 presets.
• Rainbow Road is just another name for Mode 9.

Not only does the Rainbow Road have a playlist of 30 presets, it also has a really fun feature called Autoplay. What Autoplay does is tells the Critter to play each mode in the Rainbow Road for different amounts of time.

Let’s jump in and check it out!

• Once you see the rainbow mode you will know you’ve reached the Rainbow Road.
• Again, to enter a mode hold the Arrow button until the Critter shows ⚪⚪, then release.
• Now that we’re on the Rainbow Road, feel free to take a look around. These are some of our favorite presets that were created using the patterns from modes 2 through 8 and there’s some real gems in here.
• To activate Autoplay, press the Rocket button 2 times fast. 
• The first autoplay setting will play each preset for a quarter of a second.
• Repeat this step to autoplay each preset for 1, 15, or 30 seconds. 
• To exit autoplay, repeat the step for a 5th time, or exit to the Main Menu by holding the Power button until the Critter pulses red (🔴🔴), then release.

• Navigate to the Preset you want to delete and hold the Power button for longer than 5+ seconds.
• The Critter will show red 3x (🔴🔴🔴) to let you know that this Preset has been deleted.

• Any preset from Modes 1-8 can be sent to the Rainbow Road (Mode 9).
• To do so, navigate to your preset of choice and hold the Arrow button for 3 seconds, at which point the Critter will show a rainbow burst (🔴🟠🟡🟢🔵🟣).
• This preset is now preset 1 of 30 in the Rainbow Road.
• The previous 30th preset has automatically been deleted.

To activate Momentary Press

• Turn Critter on.
• Press Power button 3x fast.
• The Critter will show yellow (🟡) to let you know that Momentary Press is active and the LED will turn off.
• Hold the Power button to turn the LED on and let go to turn it off.

To deactivate Momentary Press

• Press Power button 3x fast.
• The Critter will show yellow (🟡) to let you know that Momentary Press has been deactivated.

• Turn off Critter.
• Hold the Rocket button until Critter turns on with button LEDs turned off.
• Repeat to reverse.

• To switch between PWM and Analog, press the Rocket and Power buttons at the same time.
• PWM (best for light whipping) = ⚪
• Analog (best for light painting) = 🔴

• The RGB Critter includes our innovative technology that allows the Critter to drive the LED using either Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) or Analog technologies. All other RGB LED flashlights drive their LED(s) using PWM, which creates unsaturated colors and an undesirable "strobing" effect that can clearly be seen in light paintings (long exposure photography).
• The main benefit to using the PWM option are the beautiful "tracers" (small flashes of different colors) that can be seen in our BitWhip® Fiber Optic Whip and Fyber Kit products, both of which are both made up of end-glow fiber optics.
• The RGB Critter's Analog option provides a direct electrical current to the LED, which results in the most pure and rich colors possible. If you are a light painter, there is no doubt that you need the option to drive the LED using an Analog signal so that you can create the most vibrant photos possible.

⚪ Brightness Control [10 levels]

(with your Critter turned on)

• Press the Arrow and Rocket buttons at the same time.
• The Critter will show white, red, green, then blue (⚪ 🔴 🟢 🔵) and the buttons will start blinking to let you know that the Settings are active.

• This means the Settings are active.
• The buttons will continue to blink until you exit Settings.

The Critter shows a specific color to let you know which Setting is loading next.

⚪ = Brightness

🔴 = Strobe

🟢 = Movement Reactive (accelerometer)

🔵 = Sound Reactive

• The first Setting is ⚪ Brightness.
• To go to the next Setting, press the Arrow button.

Order of Settings

1. ⚪ Brightness

2. 🔴 Strobe

3, 🟢 Movement Reactive

4. 🔵 Sound Reactive

• ⚪ Brightness and 🔴 Strobe are adjustable Settings.
• Adjust the levels of these Settings by pressing the Rocket button.
• There is no option to adjust the 🟢 Movment Reactive or 🔵 Sound Reactive Settings.

• To save a Setting, hold the Rocket button until the Critter shows white 3x (⚪⚪⚪).
• (next Setting loads)

• To exit Settings, hold the Power button and release once the Critter pulses red (🔴🔴) (see video below).
• Once you exit Settings, the buttons will stop blinking.

Important:

• The Settings will only apply if they've been saved. (see, "How do I save a Setting?")
• You can now explore the RGB Critter's Modes with the Settings activated.

There are 2 options:

1. Press the Arrow and Rocket buttons at the same time.

• The Critter will show white, red, green, then blue (⚪ 🔴 🟢 🔵) to let you know the Setting(s) have been deactivated.

2. Soft Reset: Turn the Critter off and hold the Power button until it turns on in ⚪ (Mode 1).

(with your Critter turned on)

1. Enter Settings:

• Press the Arrow and Rocket buttons at the same time.
• The Critter will show white, red, green, then blue (⚪🔴🟢🔵) and the buttons will start blinking to let you know that the Settings are active.

2. The first Setting is ⚪ Brightness.

• Adjust the brightness level by pressing the Rocket button.
• There are 10 brightness level options.

3. Save your desired brightness level:

• Hold the Rocket button and release once the Critter pulses white 3x (⚪⚪⚪) (Strobe Setting automatically loads).

4. Exit Settings:

• Hold the Power button and release once the Critter pulses red (🔴🔴).

Deactivate any Setting:

1. Press the Arrow and Rocket buttons at the same time.

• The Critter will show white, red, green, then blue (⚪🔴🟢🔵) to let you know the Setting(s) have been deactivated.

2. Soft Reset: Turn the Critter off and hold the Power button until it turns on in ⚪ (Mode 1).

2. Enter settings:

• Press the Arrow and Rocket buttons at the same time.
• The Critter will show white, red, green, then blue (⚪🔴🟢🔵) and the buttons will start blinking to let you know that the Settings are active.

3. The first Setting is ⚪ Brightness.

• Press the Arrow button to go to the next Setting which is 🔴 Strobe.
• Adjust the Strobe by pressing the Rocket button.
• There are 10 strobe options.

4. Save your desired brightness level:

• Hold the Rocket button and release once the Critter shows white 3x (⚪⚪⚪)
• (Movement Reactive Setting automatically loads).

5 Exit Settings:

• Hold power button and release once the Critter pulses red (🔴🔴).

Deactivate any Setting:

(there are 2 options)

1. Press the Arrow and Rocket buttons at the same time.

• The Critter will show white, red, green, then blue (⚪🔴🟢🔵) to let you know the Setting(s) have been deactivated.

2. Soft Reset: Turn the Critter off and hold the Power button until it turns on in ⚪ (Mode 1).

• Navigate to any Mode 2-8 that you would like to customize.
• Hold the Arrow button for 3 + seconds, releasing when the Critter shows solid white (⚪) and the buttons start blinking.
• You are now in the programming sequence for this Mode.

• Exit to the Main Menu at any point by holding the Power button until the Critter pulses red (🔴🔴).
• (return to Main Menu).

• Use the Arrow and Rocket buttons to explore the 39 color choices you can use to create your custom Mode.
• To select and save a color, hold the Arrow button until the Critter shows white 2x (⚪⚪) to indicate your successful color selection.
• Repeat this step for up to 24 unique colors.
  

• To save your final color selections, hold the Rocket button until the Critter shows white 2x (⚪⚪).
• You now have the ability to adjust the pattern speed of your Mode (see next step).

• After you save your final color selection, it’s time to adjust the speed of your customized preset using the Arrow and Rocket buttons.
• Arrow = increase Mode speed
• Rocket = decrease Mode speed

• Once your customized Mode speed is set, hold the Power button until the Critter shows red 2x (🔴🔴) then a rainbow burst (🔴🟠🟡🟢🔵🟣).
• Your customized Mode is complete.

Extra: The buttons will stop blinking once the customized Mode is complete.

• Modes 2-8 each contain 8 Preset slots where you can store your customized Presets.
• These Preset slots were made available to you so that you can store additional customized Presets that have the same patterns and can be stored together.
• When you save a customized preset, it will be saved to Preset slot 1 of 8 for the corresponding Mode used when entering the programming sequence.
• When a new customized Preset is saved, the Preset that was previously in slot 8 of 8 is deleted.
• You can prevent slot 8 of 8 from being deleted by planning ahead and deleting one of the previously saved Presets before saving your new customized Preset. This action will shift the Preset in slot 8 of 8 to slot 7 so it won’t be deleted when a new Preset is added.

Mode 1 can only be programmed using 1 color at a time, but Modes 2–8 can be programmed with up to 24 unique colors.
