The Ants on a Melon App has endless playlists for organizing your preferred modes, plus a custom mode section for quickly creating new modes. The DIY page enables you to make unique modes with 8 different effects, adjustable speed, and over 16 million color choices.

Developed with Flow Artists and Light Painters in mind, the Ants on a Melon App offers a Universal Settings page with adjustable options like autoplay, strobe, brightness, and more!

No cell service or Wi-Fi? No problem. With the RGB Critter BT, you can effortlessly control your flashlight using the Ants on a Melon App via Bluetooth. Connect up to 10 devices at a range of 20 meters (66 feet).

 

New Updates Coming November 2024!

The AOAM App lets you download and install all future firmware and app updates for your RGB Critter BT. You will receive a notification when new updates become available.

  • No App Required! We are adding the ability to use the RGB Critter BT independently of the AOAM App. You can control the RGB Critter BT using its 3 physical buttons to navigate modes, change mode speeds, lock buttons, and turn it on/off.
  • 20 Modes Included: The RGB Critter BT will have 20 of our favorite modes pre-installed. 
  • Export To Critter Feature: The first 20 modes of a custom playlist can be exported from the app to your RGB Critter BT. Once exported, you can access this playlist independently of the AOAM App using the physical buttons on your RGB Critter BT.
  • Updates Calendar: All updates can be found on our website here.

 

Product Notice

Multiple connected RGB Critter BTs may not perfectly match color-changing modes, but solid colors will always match. We expect a resolution for this issue in early 2025. Once we release firmware that includes a fix for this issue, you can update your RGB Critter BT using the app.

The RGB Critter BT can now be controlled with or without the Ants on a Melon App. It comes equipped with 20 preinstalled modes that you can easily cycle through and adjust the speed of using the three illuminated buttons found on the RGB Critter BT.

Additionally, you can export 20 of your favorite modes to the RGB Critter BT using the "Export To Critter" feature within the app.

Flow art, light drawing, and light painting of subjects are different branches of the same glow tree. And the RGB Critter BT is flexible enough to do all three very well. Despite not being designed for light painting subjects, the RGB Critter BT shines brightly above the competition. The cost of the light is very fair for what is easily one of the most comfortable, highest-quality RGB flashlights currently on the market. The functionality of this light is heads and shoulders above its predecessor for both ease of use, nearly infinite color selection, and the ability to save custom colors and lists. While it has its flaws for light painting subjects, it’d be impossible not to recommend it highly. In fact, given its price point, it earns an Editor’s Choice.

No rainbow option?

I appreciate the programability and that I can turn off the buttons, but can't seem to find a way to do rainbow the way by spacewhip can. If it only had this feature, I'd give it five stars!

Great product, but room for improvement

I bought 3 Critter RGBs, they are a fantastic product and I love them. The only flaws might be able to be addressed with a firmware update. If the Critter is out of range of the phone controlling it then it goes into a random color flashing mode instead of just remaining in the mode and colour it was set to. The other frustrating thing is that although I can connect all 3 of my Critters in the app, I can’t control and set each of them individually, only as a group with the same settings. I would love to be able to set each of them independently and not need to have a separate phone for each one. If those features could be addressed it would be a perfect system for my needs. Thank you.

Hi Denson, Thank you for your review! We are constantly working on improving our product and are happy to inform you that a new firmware and app update will be released within the next 2 weeks. This update includes many new features, such as the ability for the RGB Critter BT to remain in the same mode when it accidentally disconnects from the app (out-of-range). We are adding the ability to independently control more than 1 connected RGB Critter BT using the app in early-2025. I love the bit whip.

Highly recommend the bit whip critter. Especially the sparkle strand 200. They're so much fun for you and for everyone around you as well!

Love it

I love that it connects to my phone and I can make my own play lists with ease and the color variety is more. I'll love th bt critter even more when I can still use the bt even if my phone dies unexpectedly.

BEST WHIP

I reviewed every whip out there. Finally I looked up one I found from a girl who reviewed an older ants on the melon whip. I went and checked them out then. After alot of throughly reviewing whips I decided on the ants on the melon I thought seemed best. I'm so happy I choose this one. My friend has the firefly whip and hers is so broken in the fibers and loses alot of them often. Thanks for having the best product. I do wish tho it would work better or somehow without the app also. And I wish it beat to music as an option of diy with that too.
