Two RGB Critter BT Light Engines joined back to back drive a full staff, 23 to 83 inches depending on the tube length you pick. Silicone end caps absorb impact and add just enough weight for smooth contact moves and high-speed spins. Because it runs on two Critters, the staff in your bag is also two sabers, or a saber and a light painting rig, whenever you want it to be.

Everything you need is in the box: both light engines, batteries, the two tube adapters and the connector. Pick your tube pattern (Sol, Honeycomb, Butterfly or Stellar) and length (6, 12, 18, 24, 30 or 36 inch) when you order.

How it goes together

The mounting end of a saber tube is bare, with no thread, so the adapters in this kit are what hold the tubes on the lights. The other end of a saber tube is threaded from the factory, which is where the two Saber Twist-On Caps in this kit go. Light painting tubes are different: only the 36 inch length is threaded, and the 5 to 29 inch lengths have no threads on either end.

Twist an RGB Critter Tube Adapter (Long) onto the front of each RGB Critter BT, push a tube into its socket and lock the two set screws.
Join the two light engines back to back with the Critter Connector to form the full staff.
Thread a Saber Twist-On Cap into each free tube tip, then push a Flow Cap (Clear) on over the top of it for impact protection. Both caps go on the same end, so it is never a choice between them.

I'm enjoying 2 sabers as a staff. I also have the inward connection to have 2 flashlights on 1 tube. Still working on a DIY levitation wand. This would be cool as a stand alone product as well to reduce the weight with a different light source or two.

The staff itself is great, the software not so much

The staff itself is great. But managing the software Really ruins the experience. It is very, very difficult to pair both halves of the staff, and keep them connected. Once you’ve got them connected, it’s like winning the lottery. But moments after performing, if you touch any of the buttons (which are near the middle) you will shut off one or both of the segments. I’ve worked with AOAM support and had some success. I’ve also looked to the web for help. So far I’m estimating 2 hours of fun and 6 hours of research. I feel that AOAM should provide a full set of precise instructions and also update their firmware to make it more user friendly. Note that there is a way to disable the buttons so you don’t accidentally turn it off. But I am yet to get it to work.

Aside from these terrible issues, the staff looks absolutely amazing when things are working.

We’re glad to hear the staff looks amazing, but we’re sorry the setup and button controls have caused so much frustration.

Both RGB Critter BTs can be controlled together by creating a group in the AOAM app. Make sure both devices are powered on and connected, then go to the Group section, select “Create Group,” choose both Critters, and save the group. When the group is active, the LEDs on both devices will turn white.

There are also two ways to prevent accidental button presses:

• On each Critter, press the Arrow and Power buttons simultaneously while it is turned on. A red flash means the buttons are locked, and a green flash means they are unlocked.
• You can also use “Lock Buttons” under Universal Settings in the AOAM app.

Amazing customer service and product.

Amazing in real life! The Analog option is delightful on camera and to everyone's eyes. A fun side show on its own while you learn the controls!
Despite all the color combinations you can set even more! Navigation is 3 buttons, small learning curve but knowing how you want to use the RGB Critter LED Staff helps narrow down which button clicks to remember. Easy lockouts to prevent accidental button pushing and the availability of drop in spare batteries is making this my most versatile tool. The connection between the RGB Critters is rock solid, even with multiple add-ons the Led Staff is secure feeling. Quick turn around on questions and special requests by email. Great job to the Ants on a Melon team!

Best staff ever!

I have been staffing my whole life. From pretend fighting as a kid to modern flow, and now I'm learn to contact staff. In all my years, I've never played with such a fun staff! Its lightweight, but still heavy and solid feeling. The grips are nice and the saber parts of the staff feel good to grip and slide nicely for doing isolation techniques! Its amazing at being a staff, but then its also a double saber! It's gotten me into many lightsaber duels and handled them well. Top tier products right here!

Great quality and amazing customer service.

I find these are perfect for play combat, not too hard and very durable, but be careful you don't lean on them as they are not stiff enough to bear weight. i was impressed that they have a screwtop end to receive other accessories or double up with another saber accessory. Staff flow and sword flow is not my jam but as a product i give it a high rating, and its also a great toy for sharing with interested people.

Lumi-Fabulous!

I purchased the Hive pattern 24" Lumi Sabre as a trial for my girlfriend who adores anything that lights up and blinks. She loved it! I found the sabre to be brighter than I expected. In terms of movement, I find it very refined and well balanced, yet light and maneuverable.

I liked it so much, I bought 2 more of them, in the 36" size to complete all her pattern set.

She finds them useful for light painting as well as prop work as a staff.

Saber staff

I absolutely love this toy the balance the functionality and the brightness! Just a note on the brightness this year 2022 at EDC everyone came up to this saber like it was a staff so bright one of the brightest things out there as a totem or a staff! After all the staffing, I pulled it apart and put my small 12" sabers on for in the crowd fun!
