The Light Painting Kit for Beginners ($199.95, 10 tools in the box) has everything you need to start: the RGB Critter BT, Acrylic Writer, Fiber Optic Duster, Light Painting Tube and a Blade Holder with three acrylic blades. The Starter Kit ($421.95, 21 tools) is the complete toolset for one light, and the Pro Kit ($971.95, 48 tools) adds a second light and nearly all of our light painting accessories. New to it? Start with the Beginner Kit, since everything else can be added later.
No. One RGB Critter BT runs every tool here: you swap heads and set the color at the light.
Light painting is a long-exposure photo: you open the shutter, then draw with light while it stays open. You need a camera that can hold the shutter open (a phone app works), a tripod, a dark spot and a bright light you can shape.
The tubes, blades and brushes here twist onto the RGB Critter BT Light Engine, so one app-controlled light runs them all, in any of 16.7 million colors.
Tubes draw clean ribbons of color, blades draw crisp shapes, fiber optic dusters leave soft glowing trails and the Orb draws perfect spheres.
Start at Manual, 20 seconds, ISO 200, f/8, with focus set by hand. Open the shutter, step into the frame and draw.
Not sure where to start? The Beginners kit puts the RGB Critter BT and the core tools in one box.
