Three BitWhip fiber heads lit side by side, labelled 140, 200 and 310 fibers

BitWhip vs Fiberflies PixelWhip 4 vs GloFX Space Whip Remix: Honest Comparison (2026)

Ants on a Melon 7 min read

Full disclosure before anything else: we are Ants on a Melon, and we make the BitWhip. We have also handled and repaired hundreds of whips of every brand, including the two on this page. So instead of pretending to be neutral, we will do the more useful thing: put all three side by side, tell you exactly where each one wins, and be plain about what ours costs over the other two. If you came here to find out which whip fits how you flow, you will leave knowing.

The short version

Lowest price

GloFX Space Whip Remix

One button, 18 modes across 35 colors, an 8 to 10 hour battery, and a water-resistant housing. The least expensive complete whip here as of our August 2026 price check.

$69.99

The proven original

FiberFlies PixelWhip 4

The whip that put fiber flow on the map, in its fourth revision. 40 modes, fiber heads that upgrade from 80 to 160 strands, and fibers cut at graduated lengths for the swarm-of-fireflies look.

$99.99

Best overall, biggest system

BitWhip

The only app-controlled whip: 140 to 300 fibers, 16 million colors, 145+ modes, and a whip head that twists off a removable light that powers 200+ other tools. It costs the most. That is the honest trade.

Where each whip wins

GloFX Space Whip Remix: the budget one-button pick

The Space Whip Remix is built around one idea: nothing between you and flowing. One button cycles 18 modes across 35 colors, the 18650 runs 8 to 10 hours, and the water-resistant housing has survived plenty of festival weather. At $69.99 as of our August check, it is the least expensive complete whip from an established maker that we know of, and GloFX sells the fiber head and the electronics module separately, so a worn part does not mean a new whip. What you give up: the smallest color and mode selection on this page, the smallest fiber bundle at 130+, customization that tops out at 5 saved color sets, and a handle that only ever drives the whip.

FiberFlies PixelWhip 4: the proven design

The PixelWhip is the whip that put fiber flow on the map, and rev 4 is a refined version of a design that has been spinning at festivals for a decade. The detachable head system is genuinely clever: start with 80 fibers at $99.99 and step up to a 120 or 160 head later, up to $124.99. Fibers are cut at graduated lengths, which gives the swarm-of-fireflies look in motion, and the kit ships with an 18650, a USB charger, and a padded foam grip. Their lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects and, in their own words, excludes fiber breakage from normal play, which is honest of them and true of every whip ever made. What you give up: the sparsest standard bundle here, 40 modes with no app, and a light that is permanently part of the handle.

BitWhip: the control and ecosystem pick

The BitWhip is what happens when light painters design a whip. Up to 300 end glow fibers ride a 360-degree bearing, which is roughly double the densest head either competitor sells (160 for the PixelWhip, 130+ for the Space Whip). Choose 140, 200, or 300 fibers, End Glow or Sparkle at the same price, in 5.5 or 7 foot lengths. The light is the part that changes the math: the whip head twists off our RGB Critter BT flashlight, and that same light then powers sabers, staffs, light painting tools, fiber optic costumes, and 200+ other twist-on tools. The app adds 16 million colors, 145+ modes, and unlimited custom playlists, and the whip runs entirely from its own buttons with the phone left at home, so the app is extra, not required. The 18650 is replaceable, so a drained cell swaps in seconds instead of ending your night at the 7 hour mark. Now the honest part: a complete kit is $159.95 to $179.95, which is $50 to $80 more than the other two, and we have no fiber durability edge, because all three whips are built on the same 0.75 mm end glow fiber. What you are paying for is the control and the system, not tougher strands.

What all three share

The same physics. Every end glow fiber ever made will eventually break under hard contact play; that is wear, not a defect, and it is why all three companies sell replacement fiber parts. Sparkle-style fiber trades some of that durability for shimmer on any brand that offers it, ours included, because the notches that make the twinkle are stress points; the full breakdown is in our End Glow vs Sparkle guide. All three run on 18650 cells, all three spin on a rotating bearing or swivel, and all three are made by real companies that answer support email, which is more than the $30 marketplace clones can say: those use brittle fiber that shatters within weeks, and we do not recommend them at any price. Whichever whip you pick, a few minutes of care keeps it bright for years; our care and maintenance guide applies almost wholesale to any fiber whip.

Fiber whip comparison FAQ

Which fiber optic whip is the cheapest?

As of our August 2026 check: the GloFX Space Whip Remix at $69.99, then the FiberFlies PixelWhip 4 at $99.99, then the BitWhip at $159.95 complete. If you already own an RGB Critter BT, the $29.95 BitWhip Accessory head undercuts all three. Sub-$50 marketplace whips exist, but their brittle fiber shatters within weeks.

What is the brightest fiber optic whip?

The BitWhip, and here is the math rather than the marketing: brightness comes from how much light enters the bundle and how many fibers carry it. The BitWhip's 300 fiber option is nearly double the densest competitor head (160 fibers), and it is driven by a full dedicated flashlight rather than a small LED built into a handle. If someone builds a brighter one, we will update this page.

Do all three whips use the same fiber?

Effectively yes. All three are built on 0.75 mm end glow fiber, so no brand has a durability edge in the strands themselves. The differences are fiber count, the light driving the bundle, and what happens when a part wears out.

Can you use the BitWhip without the app?

Yes. The RGB Critter BT runs entirely from its own buttons, no phone involved. The app adds 16 million colors, 145+ modes, and custom playlists when you want them.

Is the BitWhip worth the extra money?

If a whip is the only light tool you will ever own and you never want app control, the cheaper two will serve you well, and we would rather say so than have you overspend. The BitWhip's extra $50 to $80 buys the removable light that powers 200+ other tools, the app, and double the maximum fiber count, which is why light painters and performers who run multiple props usually land on it.

Do fiber whips break?

The fibers on every whip eventually wear under hard contact play; that is physics, not a defect. All three companies sell replacement fiber parts, so check replacement cost before you buy, not after. Our care guide covers how to make any whip's fiber last longer.
