The one-sentence answer: every Ants on a Melon twist-on accessory made for the RGB Critter system fits every RGB Critter flashlight. All three RGB Critter generations share the same front threads, so whips, sabers, blades, tubes, dusters, and costume bundles twist onto any RGB Critter ever made. The handful of exceptions are listed below, including our first generation color changing flashlight, which used a different thread.

Reading a review of the RGB Critter 2.0? It describes the older, discontinued model. The current RGB Critter BT added the app, USB-C, and a redesigned interface.
The exceptions
- First generation color changing flashlight (discontinued in 2018): before the RGB Critter line, our first generation color changing flashlight used a different thread size. RGB Critter accessories do not fit it, and accessories made for it do not fit any RGB Critter.
- Silicone Sleeve: fits RGB Critter 1.0 and 2.0 only. It does NOT fit the RGB Critter BT.
- Charging cables: USB-C for the BT; Micro-USB for 1.0 and 2.0. The BT does not support USB-C Power Delivery, so if a wall adapter refuses to charge it, use a standard USB-A power source.
- Battery: the official AOAM 2500mAh 18650 is the replacement battery for RGB Critter flashlights. Standalone batteries cannot ship to international addresses.
- O-rings: small O-rings seal Critter-to-accessory connections; the large O-ring is for the Sol Saber Accessory.
Adapters that extend the system
| Adapter | What it connects |
|---|---|
| Critter to LPB Adapter | Any threaded Light Painting Brushes (LPB) tool |
| T8 Modular Adapter | AOAM twist-on accessories onto the end of T8 tubes |
| T8 Tube Holder and T8 Tube Cap | T8 light painting tubes onto the Critter, with a brightness-boosting end cap |
| Small Tube Holder | DIY tubes up to 26mm outer diameter |
| Tube to Critter Back | A light painting tube on the back of the Critter for extended tools |
| Critter Connector | Two Critters back to back: builds the LED Staff or Double BitWhip |
| Inverse Critter Connector | Two Critters into one saber for double brightness |
Kits
Every current kit (BitWhip, sabers, LED Staff, Jupiter Rope, Jump Rope, light painting kits, Fiber Optic Costume Kit) includes the RGB Critter BT as its light source, and every accessory inside those kits also works with older RGB Critters.
Compatibility FAQ
Do my old accessories fit the new RGB Critter BT?
If they were made for any RGB Critter (1.0, 2.0, or BT): yes, all three generations share the same thread. If they were made for our first generation color changing flashlight, discontinued in 2018 before the RGB Critter line: no, that older flashlight used a different thread size and is not cross-compatible with the RGB Critter system in either direction.
What is the difference between the RGB Critter BT and the 2.0?
The BT (current model) adds Bluetooth app control, USB-C charging, and a three-button interface. The 2.0 and 1.0 are discontinued, charge over Micro-USB, and have no app.
Can I use the RGB Critter with Light Painting Brushes (LPB) tools?
Yes, with the Critter to LPB Adapter, which threads the Critter into any LPB-compatible tool.
How do I connect two Critters together?
The Critter Connector joins two Critters back to back for staffs and double whips. The Inverse Critter Connector feeds two Critters into a single saber for double brightness.
