Fiber Optic Costume Kit

First of all, this was my first voyage into fiber optics. I made a dress modeled after Natalina’s on Instructables https://www.instructables.com/Fiber-Optic-Dress/
And was really intimidated. These fibers are so easy to work with, and I got TONS of attention at Magic Kingdom (Tron pic), Epcot (as a jellyfish), and fireflies (at the local botanic gardens’ glow night). Even got asked for pics by football players!

The app was easy to install, and I quickly was able to set up custom light patterns with colors, allowing me to change from Tron (a countdown red and blue) to haunted mansion colors and Halloween colors and Mardi Gras colors for Tiana’s area with a tap of a button. I ended up getting a duster to be able to play with the color when not attached to the dress, and it’s fun to play with as well!

I have followed Ants on a Melon for quite a few years. I bought a fibre kit with the first (original) critter years ago, finally splashed out on the new RGB critter fibre pack last year and now I’ve bought more fibres so that I can create even more outfits! I love that you can choose the number of fibres & the length is great! I am going to attempt to make the hybrid cape/skirt next and then I shall wait for more inspiration…

Having put faith in this company from the start (kickstarter) they keep improving and inventing new ideas everything I visit the page. The fibers are strong and reliable with a powerful light to go with it. Highly recommended.

Just created 5 gorgeous ballerina tutus with this incredible kit. Did a bridal entrance and several performances already. Such great quality, amazing service and beautifully packaged! Can't wait to create more magic with such a high quality product.

This is by far the best pixel whip I have ever used. The quality is amazing and the support team is also amazing. I had to exchange one of my whip heads as it was beautiful but toi heavy for me do to a surgery I had on my shoulder. They got back to me quickly and made the exchange so easy and convenient.

FABULOUS product, EXCELLENT customer service. Charging instructions need to be followed well to gain the most benefit from this stunning product. I designed a coat using the RGB Critter BT Flashlight strands and had it recently retrofitted by Ants on a Melon with a more recent battery. I LOVE this high quality product!

This item is amazing!!! With various lengths available, it can be used for a variety of purposes— from dance prop, to costume flair, and home or outdoor décor! Although the price seemed expensive at first, seemingly a glorified flashlight, the deeper I researched portable LED lighting, the more reasonable the cost became. On my own, even with help from experts in electronics and lighting, I would be unable to create anything similar for the same price—let alone something this compact. The Ants on a Melon app was the biggest deciding factor in my purchase; being able to achieve just the right effect with such ease is fantastic. There are several different projects I can’t wait to use this device for!

I also must mention the super responsive customer service. AOAM staff are polite, helpful, and far too willing to answer messages outside normal business hours. Thank you, Indigo from AOAM Support (don't forget to take a break)! Receiving my package with a cute note from Joel, Master Toymaker, was also a nice touch. I am immensely pleased with the products and the attention I received from Ants on a Melon.

It's the brightest, its the cleanest color, so many options for color. I have been buying from AOAM from the very beginning. Joel, the master toy maker, cares about bringing you a quality product and is always listening and tweaking to make it better. Excited to give a costume a go.

Lights are good, handle is improved but the smartphone requirement to use this light is a total bummer. Until this can be used by itself it's 1/5 stars for me. Sure everyone has smartphones these days but I don't want to be forced to purchase a smartphone for my cousin simply so they can use the critter BT. Once the alleged update to use without a smartphone is operational I will come back to edit my review. Thanks.

Hi, I really really like my bitwhip. Its really well made and strong. The only thing that REALLY upset me to the point of me wanting to return it was not realising (not your fault but my own) it did not have a 360 swivel head. This makes the many fibers really hard to lightdance with. Not impossible but just not as enjoyable. Otherwise its a great whip. I will keep it and still use it but probably not to dance with, sadly.

I ordered the Fyber kit to work into my next costume piece and I am excited to see the results. The kit had everything I needed and the online instructions were easy to understand.

I purchased 2 fyber kits for my Halloween costume and the quality is amazing! The color range is so cool and I can’t wait to wear it to my big party!

Received new 300+ fiber head and it is STUNNING! So full and vibrant. LOVE!!

I was counting the fibers out for a garment design that would use all 360 fibers and only found 337. Yes, I really did count them, several times to be sure, and came up 23 short. That might not seem a big deal but when your design calls for all 360 fibers claimed to be in the bundle, being short is annoying. I've had to redesign the pattern to fit only 337 fibers. Above that, yes, I'll buy again from AOAM. They normally have a VERY good product. I'm hoping this is just a one-off. Things happen after all. I've used their kits before to design garments and they work very well. Nobody else out there has the lighted hand-piece (Critter) that works as well as AOAM. Count your fibers, folks, especially if precision matters.

I never thought I would love my whip and my fiber kit as much as I do! I am redesigning my fiber kit for a new costume this summer and I am just so excited! Just ordered another whip head and 2 sabers so I can make a staff. The RGV critter is so versatile I just can't contain my excitement!

We’re going to a rave later this month and I wanted to make a costume with fiber optic lights. I bought a few options and tested their brightness and quality and this light package was superb. I’m so excited to share the final product.

LOVE the Fiber Kit package! Ordered my first one some years ago after seeing a killer dress on Instructables. Upgraded to this one and OMG!
I strapped the RGB Critter to the back of a top and then wound the fibers into various patterns, sewed them into place and left some length to give it the look of a dress. The fibers are super easy to work with and cut and there are plenty of them! I'm not electrically-inclined so this kit gave me a great way to be creative without stressing about the hardware.
Note: reading through the instructions on how to go through the different color programs was intimidating but the options are fantastic! Thanks AOAM!! <3

A first, the learning curve was a little intimidating, but once I got the hang of it from watching the detailed videos, it was everything I needed and more! I've used it for two projects so far, and it has been breathtaking each time. I just purchased the Glitter Bomb BitWHip and I can't wait to make more magic with it! Thank you for such an amazing product.
