The brightest and top-rated color-changing flashlight just got better! Introducing the RGB Critter BT, the app-controlled color-changing flashlight. Connect your RGB Critter BT to our new Ants on a Melon app and play!

The Ants on a Melon App has endless playlists for organizing your preferred modes, plus a custom mode section for easily creating new modes. The DIY page enables you to make your own unique modes with 8 different effects, adjustable speed, and over 16 million different color choices.

Developed with Flow Artists and Light Painters in mind, the Ants on a Melon App offers a Universal Settings page with adjustable options like autoplay, strobe, brightness, and more!

  • The Ants on a Melon app allows simultaneous management of up to 10 RGB Critter BTs within a 20-meter range (without obstructions). Our user-friendly app interface allows users to create playlists, activate different modes, and more. 
  • Our new Ants on a Melon app is compatible with iPhones and iPads running iOS 17 or newer. It can be downloaded from the Apple App Store (click here to download). 
  • The Ants on a Melon App beta version for Android will be available in late July. The app is compatible with Android devices running 7.0 OS or newer.
  • The RGB Critter BT currently requires the Ants on a Melon app to operate, but in the Fall of 2024, we will add limited functionality that allows you to use it independently of the app.
  • Cell service is not required to operate the RGB Critter BT using the Ants on a Melon App. 

 

Multiple Connected Devices Issue Notice

The Ants on a Melon App enables users to simultaneously connect up to 10 RGB Critter BT Flashlights. However, it is important to note that there is a known issue with color-changing modes when multiple Critter BTs are connected to the app. The colors may not always match perfectly on the connected flashlights. This issue only applies to color-changing modes, as solid colors will always match on any number of connected RGB Critter BTs. A resolution for this known issue is expected by the end of 2024. Once the issue is resolved, you will be able to update your RGB Critter BT using the app.

    Flow art, light drawing, and light painting of subjects are different branches of the same glow tree. And the RGB Critter BT is flexible enough to do all three very well. Despite not being designed for light painting subjects, the RGB Critter BT shines brightly above the competition. The cost of the light is very fair for what is easily one of the most comfortable, highest-quality RGB flashlights currently on the market. The functionality of this light is heads and shoulders above its predecessor for both ease of use, nearly infinite color selection, and the ability to save custom colors and lists. While it has its flaws for light painting subjects, it’d be impossible not to recommend it highly. In fact, given its price point, it earns an Editor’s Choice.
